Everyone loves spirit week—it’s an excuse to dress up, have fun, and of course, show school spirit! During Spirit Week, students dominated each day no matter what the theme was. All the photos in this article are courtesy of the Upper Merion Student Council. Let’s recap the days of 10/6 to 10/11!
Monday: Meme Madness & Wing Bowl
We kicked off spirit week with Meme Monday and let’s just say the commitment level was alarming! Students were dressed up as Steve Harvey, Pitbull, and a lot of brainrot. The Juniors absolutely dominated this day as they started off the week in 1st place with 100 points. However, the night belonged to Best Buddies Wing Bowl, which is an oldie but a goodie. Four students from each grade battled it out in 3 rounds, but when the dust settled, Sophomore Taoeh Kim absolutely crushed it, taking down the competition and putting the sophomores in the lead.
Tuesday: Pajama Day and RPS
Tuesday brought us back to our childhood days as it was pajama day! We saw onesies, blankets, and stuffed animals. The Seniors made their debut as they led with the highest participation . During lunch and learn there was the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament. Multiple people from each competed, but after countless rounds of fighting it out, only one person from each grade was able to move on. These folks will take the beads for now and will battle each other on Friday at the pep rally. To cap off our cozy day, our incredible girls’ soccer team fought hard and put on a great game against Phoenixville!
Wednesday: Giddy Up – Its Gangnam Style
It’s always a classic to wear a t-shirt and shorts but never the way Adam Sandler does; Wednesday was not quite an ordinary day! The sheer commitment to oversized shirts and baggy shorts proved that our Viking Nation understood peak fashion. With participation from almost everyone, it was a great Wednesday. Not only that, but it was also POWDERPUFF, where the girls are on the field while the boys are screaming their lungs out to see which team will win. We can’t forget their amusing performance at halftime. The game was intense as both teams weren’t able to score until overtime. Luckily, Kennedy Coles from the blue team was able to bag a touchdown and led her team to victory. It was quite the night!
Thursday: BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms
The victories don’t end there though, as Thursday was packed with games during lunch and learn and a ton of BBQ dads and soccer moms showing up for their “kids.” During the day, all grades competed in various games to try and earn more points for their grade. It sure was fun but at the end of the day, the sophomores were able to get the most points. But don’t worry, the seniors were ahead overall by just 15 points!
Friday: Rise and Shine
Homecoming week was coming to an end as we celebrated our last day with the pep-rally. Student Council spent their entire day decorating the gym and it was definitely worth it as it showed our unbeatable Viking spirit. The pep-rally was absolutely stacked! We introduced our homecoming court, in which everyone looked absolutely stunning, watched junior Simra Siddiqui win the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament, and watched the seniors claim their final victory as they fight for their lives in the brutal game of Tug-of-War. But it’s not over yet! That same night, we had our white out game and the stands were packed with an amazing amount of baby powder in the air. We reintroduced our court and crowned our queen, Sydney Marchese.
Saturday: Homecoming Dance
We can’t just stop on Friday- the party has to keep going! Saturday was another fan favorite, our homecoming dance. Even though it was rainy outside, the dance floor in the gym was absolutely lit! Our homecoming court walked across the gym one last time as we crowned our king. Congratulations to Lucas Albini! Upper Merion really never disappoints when it comes to events like this.
