Your Upper Merion Lady Vikings are having a phenomenal season thus far, finishing the regular season with a (15-7) overall record and a (11-2) PAC (Pioneer Athletic Conference) record. Their big wins came against Pope John Paul II, an out of conference win against Council Rock North, and a battle of the bridge win against Norristown. They’ve been able to be successful through the standout 5-foot-7 senior guard Kennedy Coles, committed to Niagara University.
Last week, the Vikings took home the Frontier Division title which took place in a tight win against Pottstown last Thursday, 44-36. This is the second of two matchups with the Trojans that took place this season. These games were completely converse. In the first going, Upper Merion played all gas no breaks, beating Pottstown by a score of 58-28.
Not only did the Vikings beat Pope John Paul II twice, but one of the games will be more memorable when looking at the 2025-26 season. In the first of the two games, Upper Merion took control and won easily. In the second game, which was away, the Vikings showed more of the hard fighting basketball previously mentioned, winning 40-38.
A big contributor to the close win against the Panthers was Kennedy Coles. A late 4th Quarter free throw from Coles helped secure the win, and she received her 1,000th point. This is huge, Kennedy makes her mark as the first 1,000 point scorer in Upper Merion girls basketball history, since 2018. Coles is also the first 1,000 point scorer under head coach Jennifer Stilwell. She will thrive with the Purple Eagles when that time comes.
The start of PAC Playoffs comes on Thursday, February 5th. Upper Merion takes on Pope John Paul ll for their third meetup this season, this game will be at a neutral site. It’ll be played at Perkiomen Valley, with tipoff coming at 7:45. This season has been one to remember thus far without a doubt, but the Vikings are not done.
