The Vikings Baseball Season has been a roller coaster. The Vikings have had highs and lows, trying to create consistency in all three parts of the game, hitting, pitching and fielding.  The Vikings went into PAC Play 0-2 but with hope to turn it around and make a PAC Final Four spot. The team dropped the first game to PJP with a final score of 4-5 but were able to win the next 5. They walked off against Norristown in extra innings to win 1-0 with a combined No-Hitter from Nathan Gordon and Henry Destefano. They later only let up 2 hits to Upper Perk in the 2-1 win. Over Spring Break, the Vikings took a trip up to Pottstown for a game that ended 16-0 where the Vikings collected 12 hits including a home run by Sean Rogers and a great pitched game by Henry Destefano and Roland Oris to close it out. The Vikings then went up to face the Pottsgrove Falcons in the final game in the first round of Frontier Division games. The Vikings won 13-1 with a great performance by Cole Wellington on the mound and in the box. Wellington went 5 innings with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk on the mound and 2 hits, 1 Home Run, 3 Walks, and 5 Runs Batted In (RBIs) at the plate. 

The team went into Liberty Division games with high hopes, especially after the win against Perk Valley. Upper Merion was out hit 5 hits to 4 but still collected the win with a strong outing by Tristan Fanning going 5 innings, 12 strikeouts, 2 hits, and 0 earned runs and by being aggressive on the base paths allowing 2 runs to score on 2 close plays at the plate late in the 6th on infield grounders by Teddy Walmsley scoring Cole Wellington and Henry Destefano scoring Calvin Zapien (Courtesy Running for Catcher Nathan Gordon). Amidst a 5 game win streak, the team then went head-to-head against Phoenixville where the Vikings bats went cold after a strong first inning where 2 runs scored in the 3-2 loss. The next game, the Vikings took the long trip to Owen J. Roberts for a night game. In the 15-2 loss, nothing seemed to go right for the Vikings. Every ball in play went right into a glove, OJR seemed to hit every pitch, and the fielding needed work. The Vikings flushed the game away and forgot about it going into the game against Boyertown. The game was tied going into the seventh, where the Bears used small ball to their advantage bunting on guys and moving them over to scoring position which won them the game 4-3. With the Vikings unhappy about their recent performances, they look to get a 3rd win in three years against the Methacton Warriors. The Warriors struck first, scoring 2 runs before the Vikings could score 1 in the 3-1 loss with another strong start from Cole Wellington going all 6 innings with 5 strikeouts. 

The Vikings, now in the last game on the Liberty side of the schedule, played a night game against Spring-Ford who were ranked 7th in the state going into the game. The Vikings jumped out to an early lead in the first which was matched by a run by the Rams in their half of the inning. Upper Merion had a strong 2nd inning scoring 4 runs knocking out their ace, and then tacking on another in 3rd. The Rams answered back with a 2nd run in their half of the third. Tristan Fanning threw 5 dominant innings striking out 5 Rams and only giving up 2 runs on 5 hits. Henry Destefano came into the game in 2 innings to close out the game and pick up the teams first win in 4 games against a top 10 team in the state. The Vikings collected 7 strong hits by Roland Oris, Sean Rodgers (2, including a double), Michael Tomsho (double), Teddy Walmsley (double), Cole Wellington (double), and Hal Eaton with the Bench keeping the energy high throughout the whole game. 

Upper Merion now headed back to the Frontier side of the PAC and played PJP losing 12-1 with only 3 hits from Teddy Walmsley (triple), Michael Tomsho, and Cole Wellington compared to the Panthers 12.

The Vikings currently sit at 6-9 overall, 6-6 in PAC with 4 games remaining against Norristown, Upper Perk, Pottstown, and Pottsgrove. The Vikings PAC Final Four chances have slimmed down but have their eyes set on PIAA District Playoffs where they are currently ranked 8th. The Vikings play 2 more night games this season headed up to Upper Perk for the Tribes senior night and Upper Merion’s own senior night against Pottstown. The Vikings need everyone to show out to each and every home game of the season that remains.
