Alexander Whiteley, a student at UMHS known online as Dinogamax, is turning his dream of content creation into “an entertaining reality” using only the free app YouTube Create. The high school creator is proving that mastering the art of online video doesn’t require expensive software.
The editing process and reasons behind video editing overall vary. Major reasons for video editing include entertainment(For example, editing Youtube videos), creating smoother transitions in presentations, or running business advertising to increase revenue.
However, when it comes to editing, sometimes issues may arise such as finding a good tool that works best for someone in general. …a problem intensified when creators are on a tight budget and either cannot or do not want to pay for a platform. Fortunately for Alex, he found his solution in an accessible place, noting he was originally struggling to find software that would work until he “came across YouTube Create and it was good.” His main reliance on YouTube Create is cutting unnecessary scenes and adding visual and sound effects…
With the accessibility of editing tools like Youtube Create as well as other tools like Capcut and Adobe Premiere, some people are able to edit their own videos or edit other people’s videos without much trouble if any at all. Aside from using editing software, Youtubers and influencers overall and various businesses who use editing software will look for some visual and/or audio effects to be edited into their video to gain clicks and views. Most editing software has built in sound/visual effects, but sometimes there’s a sound effect/visual effect or multiple effects someone wants to use that isn’t available in the platform or if the platform charges money to use it, they might not want to pay, so to use said effect(s), editors use other apps/websites to add free sound effects to their editing.
An example of an app for that purpose is Zedge, and its overall purpose is a wallpaper/ringtone/call based downloader that allows someone to find anything for their phone, and users can use things downloaded from it to add to editing if they choose. Editing time varies depending on the software used, the amount of content, and the editor’s schedule.
The editing process can take “about an hour overall”, but disruptions or other commitments sometimes extend production time to multiple days.
When it comes to the actual content Alex creates, he typically makes gaming content, mostly Roblox or Minecraft content in particular, and the videos have the same sophisticated main intro, and they immediately jump into random zany chaos that happens in the particular video immediately after the intro. Alex’s videos always contain him and at least one other person, and there is always random commentary and banter between him and the other people present throughout videos. Occasionally, random skits are incorporated into said video, but when they are present, they are incorporated before the chaos ensues, or happen in the middle of chaos and then the skit gets ruined or turned into something funnier because of chaotic interruptions. Sometimes the chaos includes the presence of a couple fictional characters that Alex created showing up since he edits his own videos. One of those fictional characters is called “The Editor”, and his purpose is to inject humor into Alex’s content while also highlighting the creative challenges of the editing process. Part of the humor is showing the editor saying and/or doing something stupidly hilarious and sometimes the hilarious scene is related to the process itself to make a random segment funnier.
Editing itself is also a learning process too, and people may rate it to varying degrees even if they seem like a 10/10, and some editors may seem arrogant, but not all. Speaking of rating, Alex rated his current skills a modest “5/10,” saying he will “learn to further improve them,” and the rating reflects his humility more than his lack of skill. He understands that editing is a constant learning process, requiring the discipline to refine his technique with every upload. The whole process overall is both simpler and more complex than people may think it is and it depends on the editor on how easy/difficult the process would be.In the end, this entertaining reality that Alex has achieved can be pursued by anyone with practice and tools.
