Sammy, a 9th-grade first-year staffer, is a Media Creator for The Viking Call, where she focuses on the Multimedia section. She loves covering student life interviews, enjoying the chance to connect with peers and share their stories. Sammy is especially proud of “Mic’d Up Mondays”, a project that highlights student voices and brings attention to the energy and creativity of the UMAHS community. Though she’s only been with The Viking Call for about a month and a half, Sammy balances her time with Student Advocacy Leaders Committee, Mini-THON, and JSU. This year, she hopes to bring the student community closer through her work on the paper. She decided to join because she genuinely enjoys connecting with people and hearing what her peers are thinking. Outside of journalism, Sammy spends her time doing gymnastics and playing piano. Right now, she’s obsessed with the TV show It’s All Her Fault, and a fun fact that might surprise fellow staff members is that she speaks Russian and English fluently!
