Jake Prendergast, Staff Writer – Entertainment
Jake, a senior and first year staffer, will be serving as a Staff Writer for The Viking Call, primarily working in the Arts & Entertainment section writing movie reviews. He hopes to shed light on new releases, underappreciated films, and other important, iconic movies that have shaped culture. Jake is incredibly proud of his first article, as it showcases his dedication to not only curating honest and (often) humorous reviews, but also to peeling back the layers of films and examining their deeper meanings. Outside of being a new member of The Viking Call, Jake is the current president of UMAHS orchestra and a member of Chamber Strings, SADD, Cultural Heritage Club, and the National, Spanish, and Science Honor Societies. When he isn’t writing or reporting, Jake enjoys listening to Radiohead and other alternative rock/pop artists, taking evening walks with his dog, and making multiple trips a week to the movie theaters (shocker!). A fun fact about Jake is that he not only loves bowling, but he used to be in a bowling league, in which he won numerous championships. After high school, Jake plans to study psychology with future hopes of becoming involved within the realm of clinical therapy. Jake is very excited to be a part of The Viking Call and can’t wait to pump out new and exciting film reviews!
