Maya, a junior and first-year member, serves as one of the editors of The Viking Call and writer for the Student Life section. This year, she aims to focus on uniquely highlighting niche activities in UMAHS, such as events within the music department, by incorporating student views and achievements. Within the organization, she hopes to build new connections with members and expand its reach to bring the community closer together. She is most proud of her first published article for The Viking Call that recaps and reflects on the Upper Merion Marching Vikings 2025 season. Outside of this organization, Maya is an active member of jazz band, marching band as assistant drum major, the UM Underground Players’ stage crew, Planet Protectors as the technology officer, and various other clubs. When she’s not revising articles or writing her own, she enjoys practicing trumpet and tending to her bonsai trees. She can’t wait to share her ideas and writing with her peers this year!
